Lawrence Bogorad was born on August 29, 1921 in Tashkent, the son of Boris Bogorad and Florence Bernard. He came to the United States in 1922 and was naturalized in 1935. He received his B.S. (1942) and Ph.D (1949) from the University of Chicago. Bogorad was a faculty member at the University of Chicago in the Department of Botany from 1948 to 1951. He became an assistant professor in that department from 1953 to 1957, and became an associate professor in 1957 and a prof...
